Spotify web Player not working on Firefox

I'm having this message each time i open Spotify web player on Firefox, for now 3 weeks.

error.png

Basically it says that a problem has occured and i need to reload the page. That doesn't fix anything. Actually 2 weeks ago, reloading the page 5-20 times would fix the issue.

For now, the only fix i have is clearing the cookies of open.spotify.com, but the problem occurs again the next time i open Firefox.

Any Help?

Hey @Chaplatéyar.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you try the following link to see if that works?

https://accounts.spotify.com/login?continue=https:%2F%2Fopen.spotify.com%2Fbrowse%2Ffeatured

If it does, you can bookmark it and continue using Spotify.

Hope it works. Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

Hey @Chaplatéyar.

Thanks for getting in touch!

Could you try to remove Spotify from your Host file? Here's how:

  1. Open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
  2. go to File - Open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open
  4. When the file is open, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 0.0.0.0 website.com127.0.0.1 website2.com
  5. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address. Examples may look like: 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com0.0.0.0
  6. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them.
  7. Save your changes and restart Spotify.

Hope this solves the issue. Let us know if you have further questions.

Hi Guido, didn't find any spotify adress on this file.

Dunno if it helps to tell this, but i'm talking about spotify web player, not the windows client.

Thanks

Hey @Chaplatéyar.

Thanks for getting back to us!

Could you try playing music on your mobile phone first and then opening the Web Player? This might get rid of the error you are getting.

Hope it works! Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

just tried to open the spotify app on my phone, playing a song, and refreshing the web page. same problem.

Problem ain't fixed in over a month, and recently even happens on my laptop as well.

Seems to be working as i tried today, thanks.

I'll try again in some days and "accept as solution"

having same issue. the proposed solution by Guido didn't work for me. Using Fedora 31 Firefox 70. DRM is enabled in settings. Tried clearing cache, cookies already.

A native .rpm of spotify would be greatly appreciated one day - 🙂
