[Vizio] Cannot cast to E-Series TV

Been wrestling with this for the entire night so hopefully someone can provide some help.

Problem: Attempting to cast from my phone to the Google Cast built in to my TV (Vizio E55-D0) fails with the message "Spotify is not supported on this device right now". However, casting from other streaming apps (Pandora for example) and normal casting works fine.

Other Info:

TV Firmware: v1.0.23 (latest from here https://support.vizio.com/s/article/Firmware-Information-521)

Phone: Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with latest Spotify 6.0.0.864 armV7

TV Cast Firmware Version: 1.18.60818

I have a Vizio E Series. iphone Cast once and then stopped. Then I used my Microsoft Surface. That seemed better. However, in both instances, the sound was coming from the TV speakers and was not being pushed through the RCA jacks. I called Vizio Support and told them of this and the agent said they are aware of the issue but they don't have a solution. (Sigh) I called on 11/23/16.
