Why can't my friends see what i'm listening to when I use Spotify connect?

When I listen via Spotify Connect to any device, Sonos, KEF etc it doesn't update my friends list so nobody can see what I'm listening to. If I choose to listen on my Mac or iPad my friends can see what I'm listening to.

Why is this and when is it likely to be fixed?

When using Connect, the content is streamed directly from the device that is delivering the audio, like your Sonos speaker. Some of these devices don't have the option to share what you're currently listening to and it's not possible to modify those settings from the controller device.

That's why it works when you listen on your Mac or iPad, as those devices have the Spotify app installed and this option is available on them.
