album chosen on iphone and played on amazon echo stops after a few tracks

album chosen on iphone and played on amazon echo stops after a few tracks

Plan: Premium

Country: UK

Devices

iPhone X

Operating System

iOS 15.3

Amazon Echos set up as stereo pair with subwoofer

My Question or Issue

When I choose an album on my iPhone and play it on my amazon echo speaker pair, after a few tracks it will stop playing. On my phone the music will still show as playing.

I've had this problem in the past, but it went away for a few months. It came back when the shuffle button on the iPhone app was removed.

My wifi and internet connection is very reliable.

Rebooting both iPhone and echos has made no difference.

I have just started trialling apple music, which is working fine with the same set up.

Hey there @PeteUK,

Thank you for reaching out on the Community!

This is a strange behavior indeed, but it could still be due to a connectivity issue on the side of one of your Amazon Echo devices as well, as they also need to be connected to your network continuously. To troubleshoot things on our end, as a first step, we can suggest restarting the Spotify app twice in a row. This may sound odd but it's how the app does a refresh. Check if this will shake things up and normalize the behavior of the app with your setup.

If the restart doesn't help, then it could be well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one, so you can check the additional steps in the linked thread.

Also we're not sure where the Shuffle button isn't appearing for you, so if this is still present after clean reinstalling, then please include your Spotify version and some screenshots, so we can take a closer look and advise you better.

Let us know how things work out, we'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

Hi Kiril,

Thanks for the advice. As you'd focussed on the iPhone app I thought I would try not using it anymore and just use your developers API directly. This is proving to be much more reliable, although hopefully the app will be fixed at some stage.

Regards, Pete
