My Question or Issue
A podcast I follow recently put older episodes behind a paywall – going forward, only the 3 most recent episodes will be free. When I navigate to the podcast page, the Spotify app tries to be helpful by showing the oldest unfinished podcast. Since I can't access any of the older podcasts anymore, I just want to mark them as finished, but now that those episodes are locked, the "Mark as finished" option is no longer available.
This means that every time I navigate to that podcast page, I'm forced to scroll through a long list of podcasts to get to the top which has the podcasts I can actually listen to.
Can you please enable the "Mark as finished" option on locked podcasts?
Hey there, @squidbe,
Your feedback on this is greatly appreciated, thanks for sharing it here! Looks like the option is still present on the desktop app, so I'd recommend using it instead for the time being 👍
The Community is just a post away if something else comes up.
Hi, mine is the opposite problem I think. I have a Parkinson’s tremor & accidentally marked something as finished & even tho I haven’t finished (BBC 4 part drama) after first episode, the others don’t auto queue & play.
Hi there @KatieAsh2,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!
There should be an option available called "Mark as not started" when you click on the episode you accidentally marked as finished so you don't have to worry about this, it should be reversable and everything should be back to normal afterwards. Give that a try and let us know in case the issue persists, we'd be happy to look into it and help you further.
Take care.
"Mark as finished" is gone from the desktop app as well now. This creates a terrible UX for customers. If a user forgets to mark an episode as finished before an episode is locked, we're stuck with that annoying behavior where Spotify automatically scrolls to the most recently UNfinished episode. What's the rationale for this?? It's obviously better for users to not have this behavior forced upon us. Either enable "Mark as finished" for ALL episodes, or don't make the app automatically scroll to the last unfinished episode. Please understand how bad UX pushes users away from using your app. There are other options.
Hey @squidbe,
Thanks for joining the conversation again.
We've checked on our end and the Mark as finished option is still present for paid episodes in the desktop app, so if you're not seeing it, it's probably a temporary glitch.
To try and resolve it, can you go through some basic troubleshooting steps like logging out and back in a couple of times and/or performing a clean reinstall of the app?
If it's still not showing, please let us know your exact app version so we can investigate further.
Cheers,
