why is it playing my queue when i am pressing play on a playlist

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Perhaps you had some leftover tracks in the queue from a previous listening session - you can remove them with the Clear queue button. It's also worth checking if Smart Shuffle is toggled on. The feature adds song recommendations to the queue which you can decide to keep in the playlist. To turn it off, tap the Shuffle button again and switch to regular play/shuffle.
