British Popular Music, 1900-1949

I suppose 'British Popular Music' is perhaps a slightly misleading title. What I am in fact referring to is music that was popular in Britain and can therefore include music produced in other countries. These are all very much 'living' playlists, and will expand and shrink over time. There is a lot of overlap between the playlists as some music remained popular, or at least continued to be played on the BBC, for many years after its initial production. Some pieces may not have been popular, but as far as I have thus far checked most of them were around during the period stated. There are five playlists; 1900s, 1910s, 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. My personal favourite at the moment is the 1910s playlist, so that is the one most likely to see changes at present, but I love music from throughout the period - It is rather telling that I have one playlist marked 'Post-1960'...

Anyhow, here they are for the enjoyment of anyone who cares;

If you really, really, like all of these then you might be interested in the over-30-hour-long 20th Century playlist (1900-1950) which includes every track from all of my 'decades' playlists. Despite what the thumbnail says there ought not be any exact repeats - the same recording shouldn't appear twice.

Enjoy, if you're mad enough...
