[Jazz] Post your Jazz Playlists in here.

Hey guys,

In this thread i wanted to share my jazz playlists with you.

The first time i heard about jazz was in an interview with Radiohead. They mentioned Bitches Brew by Miles Davis as one of their inspirations. I bought the cd in 1997 but was shocked with the music. Its weird rhythms, harmonies (or lack of) and no song structure. I was used listening to alternative rock like Radiohead and Dinosaur Jr.

In 1998 i was going to concerts alot and my curiosity led me to a jam session in a jazz club. There were four people playing, drums, bass, piano and saxophone. It was then i heard and saw the magic of jazz. They were improvising arround a standard theme and they were really enjoying the jam. Creating 'new' music as they were playing. Since that day i understood what jazz was, but it still took me some more years to finally appreciate Bitches Brew by Miles Davis.

If you want to read more about jazz i can recommend this website: http://www.enjoyingjazzmusic.com/

And now for some jazz playlists i have created, enjoy:

1. Funky Jazz 2. Fusion Jazz from Poland 3. Spiritual Jazz / Free Jazz 4. Cool Jazz inspired by Miles Davis 5. Melancholic Jazz

It's more about the feel of the songs and yes the song acts a interlude. Thanks for the feedback

Here is a Jazz Funk playlist dedicated to today's funkiest organ grinders — modern masters of the Hammond B3 sound...

https://open.spotify.com/user/1249158184/playlist/3SLQtjZjnAQ9DbFdKaSTmN

Also, see http://www.funkish.audio/jazz-funk-organ-jazz-funk-piano/ because it has two dope playlists dedicated to the Jazz Funk Kings of The Keys — with live videos, and information about the players.

One is this one dedicated to funky piano grooves: https://open.spotify.com/user/1249158184/playlist/1dnY9iXIVqjfHctwEaKDmM

One is: https://open.spotify.com/user/1249158184/playlist/4l7yiedtkyp2xsfqEIfS6z — dedicated to classic organ Funk + a few new guys.

Looks good (but i prefer more than 15 songs). Maybe you can find more on my Hammond playlist:

Please take a look at this playlist.

Trying to make it better every day 🙂

It has old Jazz songs, but also new, smooth Jazz beats, which fit perfectly for a nice dinner or just relax at home 🙂

Hope you enjoy it.

I also follow the people back!

@pabloortin8 Some good tracks on the playlist but I would personally try not put too many tracks by the same artist on a playlist.

good luck with it though

If you enjoy the post give it Kudos, if I've helped you, accept as a solution, Thanks.

@What_is_Soul thanks for your help.

I will have a look on it and try to make it a better playlist.

I will follow you and take a look at your playlists.

And it would mean a lot to me if you also follow me back.
It´s great to meet new people who enjoy music the same way as I do.

@pabloortin8 Followed and done the same, plenty of Jazz on mine and a Soul, House and Rap. You might especially like this WhatisSoul

it changes weekly but this week a Jazz theme, probably 100 different tracks by this afternoon so worth a follow but this is the saved version that will not change.

Wow! The playlist you said is amazing.
There are a lot of songs I didn´t knew. Great!

And thanks for following me 🙂

Great profile with a lot of interesting playlists.

Glad you like it, like I say follow the other one or save the tracks it will be completely transformed by 6pm, more on a Soul n' disco vibe

@pabloortin8 Thanks for sharing, here's some comments: Why is it called Soul Kitchen? If it's meant as a jazz playlist for diner then i would rename it.

After the first 3 artists there's a dance/house track by Tom Misch, doesn't belong in here if you say it's a jazz playlist for diner. Also the tracks by Blazo and Kero One are more triphop-ish. (i liked Kero One btw) And Adele and Duffy are just pop so they can be removed too.

All in all there is no consistency in songs. Your playlist is a mix of traditional standard jazz and triphop/dance/pop tracks. I think a mellow jazzy triphop playlist would be far more interesting to hear.

Also the track by Justin Hurwitz is an uptempo big band track, pretty good but not while eating. 😄

Goodluck with making a better one!

Thanks @Jazzwhatever

I will work on it.
Thank you so much!

I will keep on working.

I make big label based playlists as well. I appreciate the work you put into this one and have really been enjoying it. Thanks

Here is a playlist inspired by the one and only Slim Gaillard.

Soul Jazz. Mostly from the 60's.

A couple of handfuls of early Bebop classics.

Swing ain't stuffy!

That Devilin' Tune is a 36 CD overview of the History of Jazz from 1895-1950 by noted scholar/musician Allen Lowe. This collection is a companion to the book of the same name that was published in 2003.

@GM62 Thanks for sharing your playlists. You seem to have alot of knowledge of the older jazz from the 60s and older. I liked the devlin'tune collection. Would be nice if you could write something about the playlist next time. What is Devlin' tune?

i have no idea (and i'm a jazz lover).

Anyway, thanks for adding them in here!
