Thank you Meredith for your thoughtful suggestions.  I took the time to check out your selected tracks and ended up adding the first three to my Sad Song Playlist. The first 3 tracks were from artists I had never heard of before, which is a bonus for me.  I now have the opportunity to check out their music catalogs and discover all they have to offer.  In regards to track 4, "The National – About Today" let me give you my honest opinion, "not feeling it."  I have previously been aware of the band and had their latest album "Trouble Will Find Me" in my 2013 June rotation.  I found the song you suggested a tad bit dull; the singers vocals lack any interest. The song doesn't stand out for me, it begins and ends in the same place, it doesn't aspire.  Now, you have to forgive my honesty and passion for music.  I very much appreciate your thoughtful response and hope you will continue sharing your suggestions with me.  I encourage anyone who has ideas and music recommendations for The Sad Songs Playlist Attmfk to share them with me.

That's an awesome playlist, going to take me a while to get through.

I'd recommend checking out the live version of The National's 'About Today' too, that's a great track.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the first three and I hope you do check out those artists. I personally think Matt Berninger's baritone voice adds an incredible element to the track and I find the implied storyline desperately sad. But hey, it hits everyone differently doesn't it? Let's continue the exchange!
