Spotify Inserting Ads in Podcasts (Not the Podcasters)

Every few months this starts happening - Spotify starts inserting ads into my podcasts. then it goes away, and then it starts again.

And their answer is... "Yes, the podcaster is doing their in-show ad reads. Duh."

I've listened to podcasts for years, so I know what an ad read is.

This is not that.

These are intrusive, third-party ads being inserted into my listening experience. And what's more, they are being inserted where they completely disrupt the podcast. YouTube, despite having so many ads that videos are basically just ads now, at least inserts them at logical pauses in the videos (usually). Spotify, however... the ads are right in the middle of a train of thought.

I pay for premium. Why am I getting these ads that are OBVIOUSLY being inserted on Spotify's end? And why does it start and stop... either a BUG that should be fixed OR market testing. Well the market hates it, thank you very much.

I have the exact same complaint. The ads have led me to stop following and listening to some pods

Thank you for writing in the community.

I can understand this could be something which disrupts the momentum. 

However, some podcasts also use a feature that dynamically inserts ads into the stream. This is managed by the podcast publishers, giving them more flexibility to add value to their content on Spotify.
