Change plan manager without losing downloaded content

My Question or Issue

I'd like to change the plan manager to my wife, as she would like to listen to audiobooks.  Can I do this without losing my downloaded content?  I have a lot downloaded as I travel remote for work and listen offline.

If it's the same account, nothing will be lost! You would lose your content if you were to switch accounts or perform any operation that would risk deletion or reset your account.

I read that the only way to change my wife to manager is to cancel the family subscription and go back to a free account, then she ups her account to a family plan and invites me to that one.  When I go to a free account I'll lose all my downloaded content, or is there another way?
