I have woken up today to a message that we will move to a Free account as there is a problem with our payment.
my husband was the main account holder. He died in Dec 22.
Because I’m not the main account holder, I don’t seem to be able to remove him or make a payment.
any ideas how to save our account before it moves to a free one?
I can’t seem to find any help on this.
thanks

Hi @MH73, thanks for reaching out.
I'm sorry for your loss. In this case, I suggest that one of the remaining family members start a new Spotify Family Plan from their own account.
Then, invite the other family members to join (they’ll need to confirm they live at the same address).
Keep in mind that everyone’s playlists and library will stay intact, since those are tied to individual accounts, not the plan itself.
Let me know if you need further help!
Unfortunately I am in a similar situation and this article helped but when I invite my family members, an error message pops up that states you can only join the plan of another member once every 12 months. What can we do about that?
Thanks!
Hi @ButteredSlide,
Thanks for reaching out.
This message appears if the users have switched between Family/Duo plans from different owners already, something that can only be done once per year. We understand how this can be inconvenient, but since this is a security measure to prevent misuse of these plans, this can't be bypassed. We recommend waiting it out until enough time has passed since the last plan switch and then the users will be able to rejoin.
Further info on this topic specifically can be found in this thread.
Hope this clears things up.
Hi,
I am in a similar situation, except that I am linked to my husband's account, therefore I cannot use my email address.
Question: how can I unlink my account so to have it completely separated my husband's so that I can delete his account but have mine as well?
Thank you
Hi there, @Pilotfish,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community.
First of all, we're sorry for your loss. We're going to try our best to help you and make things a little bit easier.
If we've understood correctly, your Spotify account is linked to your husband's email address and you need to have your own account under your own email address. In that case, I suggest contacting our support team, so they can assist you with changing the email address linked to your account.
If you have any other doubts, we'll be here.
Thank you @Paula_Vi
I am the Plan manager on our Duo plan. My husband died in September. I would like to save his liked songs, or at least look at them, so I can make a Playlist of his songs. Is there a way I can do that? I don’t have his iPhone anymore…
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
