Family account and individual privacy

Family account and individual privacy

I have a paid premium family account. Some users want to keep their music choices private and unknown from other users. How ever the music that they listen to has shown up in suggested searches or music you might like or even on the alarm clock playlists of others in the family!!!! How do they keep their listening private!!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

You can always switch on Private Listening. When this option is on, nothing you listen to will influence your recommendations and playlists, like Discover Weekly, Daily Mix etc.

Note that if you're seeing music that other family members have listened to in your account and recommendations, most likely your account is logged in a communal device, like a smart speaker, TV or game console, to which multiple users have access. In this case, I'd recommend that you and any other family member with this issue, log out everywhere and log back in only on your personal devices, like phones and PCs.

It's a good idea to create a separate family member account and log in with that on your home speakers/ TVs. This way the music listened to on those devices, won't influence your personal recommendations.

Hope this helps.
