I have upgraded my account to a family subsctiption. WhenI send an invitation to my son, he gets an email, but the link points to him joining the family account of some stranger. Here is is the message (in German):
"Glückwunsch! Du schließt Dich gleich dem Familienabo von Bart Hendrickx an."
I don't know this guy Bart Hendrickx", Of course, when I put in the adress details of my son in order to join, Spotify says that is not under the same adress.
If I resend the invitation, it says to join the account of another random person, not the same.
To me this seems to be a very serious issue! If I were this Bart Hendricks guy, I would not want Spotify to send invitations in my name. If I get hold of his adress, I could have my son join his family account, although he was never invited!
Anyway, what should I do, so that my son can join MY family account?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Actually I found a solution, but I still think this should not happen.
I looked at the URL that the button "accept invitation" pointed to and it contained a sequence of numbers and letters. When I replaced this sequence with the invitation code in the email, it worked and it allowed him to join my family account. So obviously the link pointed to the wrong invitation, of some other guy.
Hey @Gaorp, thanks for writing.
That's odd. The thing is sometimes the information once given to Spotify (regarding the users’ addresses) don’t match the ones they have. The data might be incorrect, incomplete or outdated, causing issues like the one you're going through.
In this case I suggest you get in touch with the Spotify Cares staff - They'll be happy to help you further with this.
There are a few ways to contact them.
Another great way is to reach Spotify via Facebook support. Shoot them a message here: Spotify Cares.
When you message them, inform all the e-mail addresses on the plan.
Let me know if this helps 🙂
I'm having the exact same issue. Just singed up to family premium. Family members receives the invite, but link indicates he is joining a random persons family group.
Hey @Toffees99, thanks for writing!
If you're having the exact same issue, my suggestion is the same as I gave to @Gaorp.
Please let me know if it helps 🙂
