Does the family member currently have a paid plan on their account? For example, Premium Individual, Premium Duo, or Premium Family?

the person had a Duo plan, but cancelled it right before trying to join the Family

In this case, they'll need to wait until their account has reverted back to free. Once that has happened, they'll be able to accept the invitation.

If they canceled their subscription, they simply need to wait until it runs out 🙂
I am part of a family account, however on my Iphone my account is a free account and don't seem to manage to get it on the family account. What should I do?

As @Maxim suggested, we advise you to create a new thread for your specific question.
In the meantime you can check out this page on how to find out if you're logged in on the wrong account. Most probably a different account was invited to the Family subscription.
