I hate that my kids al whatching video's now instead of listening to podcasts or audio. It is really neccesary to make it possible to turn of video acces. And Spotify kids is not available in my country 😞

I want to turn off videos on Spotify so the kids dont get stuck watching video of "5 minute crafts" for hours. We will be looking for actual music services to replace Spotify video app now. Have been using Spotify since beginning.

Spotify lost a customer today.  I cancelled my family plan because of this.  Spotify needs to stay in their lane or have a stronger focus on parental controls.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  As others have said, Spotify Kids is for toddlers.  Be better Spotify.

thats great for those in Denmark. Are you kidding me? Make it available EVERYWHERE. NO MORE VIDEOS

If Spotify is offering Family or Group Plans, then it must empower the administrator to manage content exposure for all sub-users — especially teens. Currently, admins can restrict explicit lyrics, which is a good start. But the inability to disable video content, podcast access, or other distracting and sometimes inappropriate features for our teen users is both frustrating and irresponsible.

LOL, you said "Currently, admins can restrict explicit lyrics".... which is not true at all. Currently admins can turn off the explicit content flag, but there is a VERY LARGE amount of content that is plainly explicit, with many swear words and inappropriate content, that is not flagged as explicit. Especially now that there is content that comes directly from Youtube and elsewhere.

Spotify: Remove video from the app.

I've been a paying subscriber for many years. Been using the app since before they had a Family plan. And this is the last straw.

I'd like to switch to a different music streaming platform for myself and my family. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It says ‘solved’ but clearly it is not! There’s no such function available so dont mark this as solved. Pleae discuss with your mgmt that video’s in podcasts are a poor choice and remove this function. The world does not need more crappy reality diy videos 😎

@LP1980 FYI There is a feature-oriented thread with related discussion here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Add-quot-remove-video-content-quot-option-to-Spotify-Fam...

Personally I'm in the process of moving my family's playlists to Apple Music and cancelling my Spotify account.

it doesn't help

It is completely unreasonable to expect a 12 year old to use Spotify kids.
Spotify is a music player. I am happy to pay a premium for the wonderful music listening services you offer. All I want to do is turn off videos for my child as well as myself.

Still an issue. Considering leaving spotify altogether.

Same here!
if Spotify refuses to bring the feature to disable all video content - I am canceling my family account.
it was a poor decision to go the video-content-path…

Me too.

My Question or Issue

We’ve been very happy with the application so far. I’ve been trying to limit my kids’ access to short video content by restricting YouTube, Twitch, and similar platforms. Sometimes I’ve succeeded, and other times I’ve discovered new ways they manage to bypass these limits.

Yesterday, I found out that my kids have been using Spotify to watch gaming videos and similar content. I was quite surprised—and a bit disappointed—since I’ve always thought Spotify was mainly for listening to music.

My question is: How can I restrict Spotify so that my kids can only use it for listening to music, not for watching gaming or other videos?

Yesterday I found out that my kids are using Spotify to watch gaming videos etc. I am kind of disappointed that I have been believing that Spotify is only for music at least I have been used for that.

The question goes: How do I limit my kids to use Spotify for listening music not watching gaming videos

I just logged into Spotify and now see it has added a chat function...

This just gets worse!

Spotify announced that they are adding managed accounts in the US.

Doesn't work yet for me in the states unfortunately.

Too little, too late for me. I've switched over to Apple Music. No social media features, better audio quality and cheaper family membership fees. No idea why I was with Spotify.

100% agree. Outrageous irresponsible platform behaviour!!!
