Hello.
We just updated one account to Family Plan and that account is now owner. So now we have one owner and some member accounts. How do we change the owner status to another account?
Hello Tomba-73, welcome to the Spotify Community!
Unfortunately, you can’t change the manager of a Premium Family plan, but the current manager can cancel. Then, when all accounts go back to the free service at the next billing date, a new manager can start a new plan.
If you have any further questions, feel free to post a new message!
Family plan just once a year ?
You seriously cannot develop a better solution to this problem? Are you joking me, Spotify? What is this, 2002?
Agreed. It would be a faff to have to reconnect all of the users to the new family plan. It should be easier to do (though I can only imagine what the internal data stores look like!)
Would we loose all our download music
Wow I can see why I am reading what I am reading in these comments. This is a huge fault Spotify! That really is one of the default options with any app where multiple users share one account, and a manager of that account has to be chosen. Should be added in settings as an option like right now. Put an update out ASAP!
I have had premium for years. I signed my family up to premium and told my dad he could get audiobooks with it, turns out only I can but he's the only one in the family who would listen to them. Are you saying I have to cancel my years long premium and get everyone else to sign up to my dad's plan? What if I'm the bill payer?
I'm in the same situation - I am wanting the audiobooks but am not the manager so now no one uses the audiobook function
Yeah -- my sister wants to use audiobooks and I dont use it as account manager -- i cant just designate her as manager is silly
We are the same, my husband only listens to music and is the account manager. I want to access audiobooks. Get it sorted Spotify
Agreed! Please address this oversight
Same situation with audio books.
Am improved way of defining who can utilise audiobook hours would be appreciated, thank you.
Please resolve! I would really like access to audiobooks as I'm the only one on my plan that would listen to them!!!
I'm kind of on the fence about getting the Family Plan because although I listen to audio books my husband listens way more than I do.. again since I'm new to this if I create an account and my husband and daughter join mine will they loose all of there downloads music podcasts ect??...
Hi folks!
At the moment, audiobooks included in Premium are available in the following plans:
We’re always looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone though, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated, thanks for sharing it here 💚
As soon as we have any news on this, rest assured we'll post an update on our For the Record blog.
@Taylorgirl2024, don't worry - they get to keep their libraries and downloads when they join the Family plan with their own accounts. Since you mentioned that your husband also enjoys audiobooks, it's worth consulting with him on who'll be the plan manager, since only the plan manager would have access to the audiobooks subscriber catalog currently.
More info on Premium Family can be found in this article.
Cheers 🤘
My feedback is that the account manager should have the ability to ASSIGN which family member has access to the audiobooks.
Asking your clients to cancel and reconfigure is NOT a good customer experience.
Fully agree. My daughter had the original account as a birthday present and I upgraded to family. She is now the account manager, but I pay the bill and can't sort problems. Spotify generally is a very poor customer experience.
Jumping on here to say also - the manger should 100% be able to ASSIGN to another person. Seems to ridiculous and tedious to sign back up.
Same boat here. Husband asked me to find a way to switch account holders because I'm the one who would use the audiobooks and would love it but we have no way to do it. There should be a more simple way to switch account manager if you want for reasons just like this. So many people having the same issue. Address this and fix it Spotify, please.
