That being said, we'd like to add some insights. Keep in mind that your account has 2 "names", your username and your display name:

• The alphanumeric code is your username. We use your username to identify you on Spotify, so it can't be changed. You don't need to remember it to log in. You can use your email and password.
• The display name, on the other hand, replaces the username that appears on your profile, app and playlists. You can change it as many times as you want. You can read all about it in this article.

Now, since you mentioned the app is always offline, we'd recommend you double-check offline mode is off. If the issues persist, we'd recommend you perform a clean reinstall of the app. By doing that the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. If the above doesn't do the trick, please send us:

• The make/model and OS of the affected device.
• The exact Spotify version you're running there.
• A full description of what exactly you're seeing on your side.
