Premium can only play on one device?

Premium can only play on one device?

We have premium Spotify. My husband has it loaded on his iPhone and listens to it in his car during the day and I want to listen to it on the tv through Roku at the same time. It says that it is being used somewhere else when I try to log into the service on my tv. Why is this and what's the point of having premium if you can only listen on one device at a time?

Hello !

Unfortunately, as stated thereSpotify is licensed for personal use, you can only play from one device at a time.

If you wish to share your Spotify access, you should take a look at the Premium for Family plan !

Do not hesistate if you have any further question ! 😉

Sorry I should have been more clear and say that we do have premium for family. Are there instructions anywhere for how to make sure it's set up correctly? Thanks for your quick response!

Ok, no problem 😉

You can find everything about how to setup Premium for Family just here.

Hope it helps !

I'm wondering about this myself.  I'm thinking of joining the Family plan, but only if my kids can listen on the Roku.  The directions aren't totally clear...how can I set up an account for my kids on the Roku?  To be clear, they are young and do not yet have email addresses.

@Smccombe, I know this post was a while ago, but did you ever find a way to listen on Roku while your husband listens on his phone?  Thanks in advance!

Hi there @TaraSz7,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

With the Premium Family subscription you can use Spotify Kids. This means you can create accounts for your kids, which allows you to have more control over what they listen to. Each Kids account takes up a slot in a plan and can only be created by the plan manager. You can check out this article to get all the details about how Spotify Kids works. However, the Spotify Kids app isn't available on the Roku platform at the moment. Currently, it's only available for mobile devices on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. You can use a regular Spotify account on Roku without any problem though.

On another note, with Premium Family each member has their own Premium account, and everyone keeps their own password and saved music. So as long as each user is using their own account, they will have no interruptions while using Spotify. You can listen to your music on your phone with your account, while other member uses their account on Roku without any interruptions.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
