Question about leaving premium family plan

Question about leaving premium family plan

Hello,
I just wanted to ask whether or not it's possible for me to leave the premium family plan.

I saw some posts about changing the plan in the account settings to a free plan however I'm concerned that it might change the plan for the rest of the people in the family plan.

I'm not the family plan manager, so should I be worried?

Hi @Nik2103,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

No worries, if you're a member of a Premium Family plan (rather than its plan manager), leaving the plan won't cancel the subscription for any other people in the plan

You can leave a Premium Family plan by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your account page
  2. Under Your plan, click Change Plan
  3. Select Cancel Premium under Spotify Free

When you leave the Premium Family plan, your account will revert to the free service.  If you'd like, you can then subscribe to your own Premium plan here

Changing subscription plans won’t cause you to lose any of your playlists or saved music, and you can keep your same Spotify account.

Note that members can only switch between Premium Family (or Premium Duo) plans once a year.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Hi Team,

Please help to confirm what happens to the individual accounts from Family plan once the subscription is cancelled. Does all the accounts go back to normal free accounts? Are the Playlist and other details still saved in there account and not deleted?

Thanks

I have the same question, but i am de plan manager

Hi @Raluk120504,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

If you’re the plan manager for a Premium Family plan, and you switch your plan to the free service, both your account and the accounts of everyone else in the Premium Family plan will revert to the free service at your next billing date.

Unfortunately, there isn’t currently a way for you, as the Premium Family plan manager, to remove yourself from the plan without causing the other members to be removed from the plan as well.

Feel free to read more about what happens after you cancel a Premium plan in this support article, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a good day!
