My Question or Issue
Every time I am sending my boyfriend a link to join my Spotify family plan, the link when opening just displays a Spotify page with an error 404 image. I have tried sending by email and iMessage and neither have worked. I think the link it is giving me is quite obviously incorrect. I would really appreciate some help thank you
Hey @Ameliagates,
Sorry to see that this has been going on!
Please make sure you're following these steps when sending the invitation.
Note that the account opening the link needs to be on the free tier in order for the invite to work.
If the issue persists, make sure any VPN services are disabled.
I would try opening the link via an incognito browser session, a different device and/or a different network to see how things go as well.
Keep us posted 🙂
I've tried following these instructions and also don't have a VPN on, and have tried 3 different devices and they all are getting a 404 when I try to invite someone to a family plan. Is there any fix for this?
Hi @Haveitall07,
Thanks for reaching out. Make sure your Family plan isn't full already, you can check this here. Also, have you tried on different networks, as suggested by @Vasil? If not, please do so.
Hope this helps.
I’ve tried all the suggested methods and still failed. Not sure what to do honestly. Frustrated
Hi there @Mandodd,
Thanks for the reply. Does this happen with only one user or with anyone you try to invite to your Family plan? If it's a specific person, ask them to check if they have an active subscription and if they do, ask them to cancel it and wait for their account to revert to free. Sometimes the subscription can cause conflicts and may prevent the joining of the Family plan.
Hope this helps.
I have tried multiple times as well and noting works even with all the suggested steps
Hey @softtouch,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!
Just to confirm, are you trying to invite someone to your Premium Family plan or you're trying to accept an invite?
If it's the latter, could you let us know if you have an active subscription? If yes, make sure to cancel it and wait for your account to revert to the free service. Then, you should be able to accept the invite. No worries, you won't lose any content, you'll just need to re-download your tunes when you have Premium again.
If you're the owner, could you ask the other user to try accepting the invite again from an incognito window and a different device? If they have an active subscription, please ask them to follow the aforementioned steps.
Let us know how it goes.
I also have the same issue where Premium Family Plan link goes straight to error 404. I have previously been on the family plan but had difficulty getting back with a new device. We removed my membership from the family plan, cancelled my subscription and tried reinstating everything, including using an incognito window on a different device. I'm also very frustrated having spent 6 months trying to get this to work.
Same issue. Basically it sends a text link out -
Hi @Sonnysmythe,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
For future reference, it's best not to share the link with the invite. Now, the problem is that the link is incorrect. Every invite link has a unique code right at the end, and the one you received doesn't have one. That's why you're getting that error message.
Ask the plan manager to send you the link again, they can actually copy the code and send it directly to you. They should see the following options:

I have the same issue. The link which is being sent by the app doesn't have any code. It's just generic

I'm not sure how to make it to generate the code
I resolved my issue by uninstalling Spotify and installing it back and updating my home address.
After that link was generated successfully.

I'm trying to invite my father to our Spotify Family, I follow the guide provided by Spotify. I send him the invite Link, but when you click the link you land in a Page: Sorry this site doesn't exist anymore.
I tried sending it with different apps, WhatsApp, Telegram, eMail...
I tried opening it in incognito, with chrome and safari.
Has anyone had a similar issue or has any idea how to fix it?
Thanks for your help
This is the Site
I also had this problem, and what seem to be the issue causing it is that my Spotify family subscription is so old that I have never had to enter my adress. And since I don't have a adress registered Spotify wouldn't generate a working link. So to fix the problem I just pressed change address and entered my current address and then I tried to invite again and that link worked.
So in conclusion: to fix Spotify generating a generic link, 'change address' and try again.
