Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
This is odd. Would you mind providing a bit more info about what's going on? Is your account getting completely logged out of the app and a totally different account logged in?
It'd be useful if you could provide a video or some screenshots where we can take a better look at this issue. You can attach them using the Inset Photos or Insert Video option in the post editor.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Hi there - thanks for the reply.
It is one family plan account with multiple profiles.
It does not log me out when switching profiles. I access the app via my mobile and it loads another family member's profile without input. The only way to access my profile again is to log out and back in again until the next occurrence.
I will try to capture videos/photos
Hey @straussy240,
Thanks for your reply and the additional info.
Please do, as a video will help us better understand the issue. In the meantime, can you let us know what you're seeing under Account in the app's settings before and after the profile switch happens? Is it two different email addresses?
Keep us posted.
I figured out what was happening.
For some reason Spotify changed the plan manager for my premium account to my daughter's profile. Apparently the only solution to fix this is to cancel the plan and wait until the next billing cycle to create a new family plan with the correct plan manager - what an absolute joke and poor solution. I really hope Spotify support figure out a betters solution otherwise I may just cancel the subscription all together
I am having the exact same issue. Everyday when I hop into the car it has logged me out of my profile and starts playing either my husband or daughters profiles. It then pauses whatever they are listening to as it thinks two devices are signed in. I have to log out and re log in to my account. It is happening multiple times a day. It has only been happening for a couple of weeks which I think is since the last App update.
Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
This is an odd issue. Keep in mind that it's not possible to have multiple accounts logged in at once and to switch them automatically, especially without a prompt. Users need to manually log out and then log back in with a new profile in order to be able to do this. If you're using Android, there's a chance that the log in details of other accounts have been saved and you're logging into another account by mistake.
In addition to this, it's also not possible to have the plan owner randomly changed as subscriptions can't be transferred between accounts. You can check your receipts to confirm the type of plan you currently have. The only way to change the plan admin is by cancelling and subscribing from a different account as mentioned above, so if you haven't cancelled your account, the plan ownership should continue to be under that same account. An exception to this would be if your daughter subscribed to a separate plan from her own account.
If you have any doubts about the plan ownership, you can reach out directly to our Support team here. They'll be able to take a look at your account and provide further info.
Hope this sheds some light on the situation. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here.
Hi Novy
I reached out to support but I don't think this issue is resolved. Profiles are being changed without me being prompted I assure you so something odd is happening
Yes they are changing without being prompted. My daughter knows whenever I get into the car as it kicks her out until I log out and log back into my account. It seems to be logging me in automatically to whomever is listening at the time (yes all separate profiles). It is doing it multiple times a day. Never had this issue until the last app update. Also it is Apple and not Android.
Hi @straussy240,
Thanks for the quick response.
Does this happen to anyone else in your Family Plan, for example does your daughter have your account on her device? Or is this an isolated occurrence on your device?
To make sure we have tried every possible solution we would advise to perform a clean uninstall of the app on the device. You can do so by following these steps here.
Keep us in the loop, hope this helps out.
Hi there
I have done a clean uninstall and it seems to have worked!
thank you so much
Hi MartinT
I have 2 clean installs - it works at first but then the next day the same issue happens where it loads the wrong profile. To fix I have to log in on my mobile again. This issue only happens on my mobile
Hi @straussy240,
Thanks for the reply. It seems like the wrong account is still cached on the device and you're being redirected to it. Try logging out manually, performing a clean reinstall and then logging back in with the correct account.
Hope this helps.
I keep opening the spotify app to find it has magically changed to being the account of someone else sharing the same premium family plan. Every time I have to log out of their account and into my own. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?
Hi Joan
This seems to be working now - that extra step made the difference to clean the cache
Thanks!
That's great @straussy240, thanks for letting us know!
We're here should you need help with anything else. Have a good one 🙂
I am having the same issue with the premium family plan. It is switching other family members' spotify apps on their phones to my login after months of working properly.
Just wanted to hop in to say I have that exact problem as well. Really, really frustrating. Haven't had time to clean uninstall, but will do shortly. I, too, am using apple products, so I had thought that maybe this might be caused because I have separate spotify accounts logged in in my iPad and iPhone, but the apple id is same in both devices.
Make sure you log out, then uninstall, reinstall, and log back in. Have not had this issue occur again after clearing the cache as suggested by Joan
Hi Joan, my family has the family premium plan and all of us each have our own accounts. We've been using this plan for over a year with no issues until 2 weeks ago. My mom and I both have iphones (other two family members are android) but my mom and I have been having issues where our spotify app keeps booting us out whenever one of us opens it or connects to the bluetooth in our cars. I will be logged into my own account, and when I wake up it's magically logged into my mom's account. If I log out and re-login to my own account it will magically have my account signed in on her phone. I did the recommended steps of the logging out, clean reinstall and everything and had her do the same on her phone but it has still not changed anything. She reinstalled and signed in and when I open my app after reinstalling it doesn't even take me to the sign in page, it's just automatically logged in to her account again. Its been a constant frustrating juggle for 2 weeks now and I'm confused as to how after over a year of no issues there's suddenly this huge problem.
