When will spotify work with Sonos Voice Control?

When will spotify work with Sonos Voice Control?

Sonos Voice Control has been out for some time now, and still does not work with Spotify. Once this is enabled, I can move to a Spotify Family plan and put the Sonos speakers in my kid's rooms. When will the happen?

Hi there JZ307, Spotify should work with Sonos voice control. Sonos is a smart speaker system that can be controlled by voice using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, depending on the Sonos device you have.

To use voice control for Spotify on Sonos, you need to first set up your Sonos device with your preferred voice assistant. Once your Sonos device is set up with your voice assistant, you can control your Spotify music using voice commands.

For example, if you have an Amazon Alexa-enabled Sonos device, you can say "Alexa, play some music on Spotify" or "Alexa, play my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify". Similarly, if you have a Google Assistant-enabled Sonos device, you can say "Hey Google, play some music on Spotify" or "Hey Google, play my Liked Songs playlist on Spotify".

You can also use voice commands to skip tracks, adjust volume, and control playback, among other things. Just make sure your Sonos and Spotify accounts are linked and that you've granted the necessary permissions for voice control.

If you're having issues with Spotify voice control on your Sonos speakers, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try. Firstly, make sure that your Sonos speakers and Spotify account are connected and set up correctly. You can check this in the Sonos app under "Services".

You can also try unlinking and relinking your Spotify account to Sonos, as well as making sure that your Sonos system and Spotify app are both up to date with the latest software updates. If you're still experiencing issues, you may want to reach out to Sonos support for further assistance.

Regarding your question about moving to a Spotify Family plan and using Sonos speakers in your kid's rooms, as long as your Sonos speakers are set up with the same Wi-Fi network as your Spotify account, you should be able to use voice control to play music on those speakers. You can also set up separate Spotify profiles for each family member on the Family plan, so everyone can have their own personalized listening experience.

Sonos is truly a great experience and I hope some of the things I covered help you get back into that full experience.

Highest regards,

Thank you for the reply, but this does not answer my question.  I am fully aware of how Spotify works with other voice assistants like Alexa and Google.  I am specifically asking when the integration with Sonos Voice Control will work.  Sonos released their own virtual assistant in October of 2022, it is called Sonos Voice Control.

The other solutions allow access to the Internet, which I do not want in my kids rooms.  The Sonos solution does not allow any searching outside of the music solutions I assign to Sonos.

Hey @jz307,

Thanks for reaching out.

Currently, there's no integration between Spotify and Sonos Voice Control, however, if you feel strongly about this, we'd suggest posting an idea about it here.

We hope this helps. Let us know if you have other questions.

Sonos voice control seems like the best option for voice assistance when playing music on Sonos, which seems like the best smart home audio solution. Spotify please figure this out because configuration between Sonos, Siri + Apple Home, Alexa is cumbersome to setup, lacking some key features and slow performing. These are unnecessary challenges for us end users to solve for something as simple as playing music which can be done faster and privately on my local Sonos hardware vs shipping voice commands to back end servers.

I’m shocked you don’t understand the question being asked.  I’m beginning to see why Spotify has such glaring blind spots.

When I launched Sonos on my phone (iOS) today a pop-up screen appeared indicating "Sonos Voice Control now works with Spotify".  There was also a "Learn More" button but didn't have time to investigate.  I don't know how to get back to that now, but I do see that in Settings > Services & Voice > Sonos Voice Control > Default Service Spotify does show up (which I had previously added as a service in Music & Content).  Haven't had a chance to play with any of this yet.  Have a look yourself and see if you see anything similar.
