My Question or Issue

We are having a premium family plan with me, my wife and daughter. We are getting a divorce. I would like to keep my familyplan with my daughter, but my wife would like her own account (family plan or not) without losing al her current playlists. How do we do this?

Hi @admahabali

Your daughter can still be a member of your Premium Family plan as long as you both live together. For more info on Premium Family, check this Support article

If your wife is currently a member of your Premium Family plan but wants to start her own or enjoy Individual Premium, she needs to leave the current Premium Family plan:

  1. She can log in to her account page.
  2. Under Your plan, click CHANGE PLAN.
  3. Here she can either switch to another Premium plan, or choose CANCEL PREMIUM under Spotify Free

No worries, she wont lose any playlists or follows, it's just the subscription that changes.

You can also remove her from your plan. Just follow the steps under Invite or remove members provided in the Support article I linked above.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi, I'd like to remove myself from my ex's duo premium plan, but want to make sure that if I follow the steps above, it won't cancel his plan also. Since the word "cancel" seems like it will and he'll have to restart his plan. We don't communicate, so I want to just do this without having to notify him. Let me know if his account will be affected. Thanks,

Hi @firebetty,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Don't worry, if you cancel your subscription as a member of a Duo/Family plan, only your account will be affected. Just note that the change is immediate and your account will switch to free as soon as you cancel. You keep your library and all your playlists, so no worries there.

Hope this clears things up. Cheers!

After leaving the Premium and going to Free, will I have the chance to be Premium again? I don't want the free plan after that.

I am leaving the family plan due to divorce too

Hi @kocando-1

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

When leaving a Premium plan the app will have to be reverted to free, that's how it is expected to work. You won't lose any of your beloved music or podcasts, only difference being that they will not be downloaded to your device. They will still be accessible as other content on the app, just without the premium features.

You can update your Premium Subscription through your Account overview page

Hope this helped out, keep us posted if you have any questions.

Cheers.
