Had free account now premium with different email

I have the free Spotify on my phone with my personal email address as the log in. But then I started grad school and now have the Premium student subscription which is my school email. How do I update my email address on my phone so that it recognizes  the premium account? I have already tried and it tells me that a username already exists with that email. Please help!!!

No worries, you just need to log out from your free account on your phone by following the steps here. Then, you can log back in using your school email and password. If you don't remember your password, you can reset it here. 

On another note, you can close your free account by following these steps to avoid any confusion.
