Upgrading to Premium Student While Abroad

Hello!  

I am currently studying abroad, but am enrolled in my home university in the U.S., and trying to upgrade to the student premium account.  I have gone to the student page where it then prompted me to put in my card information, and when I submit it, it tells me that I am not eligible.  

Is this just because I am out of the U.S.?

My roommate here has a functioning student premium account, so that seems unlikely.
