With the family plan can we both keep the same play lists and listen at the same time??  I don't even want seperate accounts I only did the family plan in hopes of being able to listen at the same time and connect to more than 3 devices.

It won't be possible to do this without each family member using their own Spotify account 🙂 Premium for Family allows you to invite the accounts of your family members to the plan, so they can enjoy the Premium benefits just like you.
