How to get followers?

So after being a spotify member for a year or so, and the option to follow users, artists, bands was added I was wondering if there is a way to gain more followers, it's easy for me to follow my friends and my favourite artists but not so easy to get followers. Anyone who know's any ways to gain followers please comment in this forum, thankyou.

Hi guys

This message is for anyone that has posted on here looking for followers. You are going to have very limited success with this as nobody really looks at this thread to find people to follow. Especially those of a follow for a follow back persuasion!

Did you know that in the Green Room playlists are now being reviewed and the favourites are being featured on the sidebar for up to a month? If all you guys are really serious about gaining followers then this is the best place to be posting.

Here are some tips: Come up with an original theme and playlist title (My top tunes or The best playlist ever doesn't really cut it), pick tracks that compliment the title and don't overload the playlist with tracks from the same artist or album. If you feel the need to put more than one album track in, make sure they are spaced out. Variety is the key to a good playlist!

I could understand followers for social media and whatnot, but why is it relevant for Spotify? Unless I'm missing a big social aspect of it, the only thing you can do is share playlists.

One reason followers are important is for bands/artists. Even if you have albums out and followings in other social media, Spotify requires to to gain 250 followers before you can control your own artist page. In effect, it treats Spotify as if it's social media, even though the platform is so laborious to work with (circa 1999) that it's very difficult to get followers when you're an emerging artist.

Also, many people older than their teens or college age don't use Spotify and don't recognize the use of followers.

We need 250 followers with our 2nd album coming out, and are struggling to get them because most of our fans don't use Spotify. In fact, many artists are against Spotify because they think Spotify doesn't pay for listens. They do, actually (we receive regular royalties every time people listen--yay, thank you, Spotify!)... but people believe the old news and don't look into the facts.
