Although I’m a fan of many of the artists opposing Rogan’s podcast, they should not get to decide what the world can see, hear or read. I can do without them if needed. I find it ironic that many of them used their music to fight against the status quo when they were young and at the peak of popularity, and now they want to shut down any dissenting voices. It is important that there is freedom of speech in this world, and that doctors, scientists and other experts are allowed to express their concerns. Silencing our experts is a recipe for disaster.
In that scenario, whoever has the most money wins.
GOODBYE!!!!!
I agree, let them pull their music. I can live without it much better than being a part of censorship and more freedom being taken away. I love Spotify but you need to do what is right. I don't even listen to Podcasts but I will listen to Joe now because if it caused this much chaos then it has to worth listening.
Exactly. What I would like to see now is Rogan chairing a conversation between the likes of McCulloch/Malone/Marik/Kory and anyone who doesn't like what they are saying and supports 'the narrative'..
I'm willing to bet that Young and the narrative supporters have not listened to the podcasts nor are they familiar with the data that underpins the above docs' arguments. Let the data decide the discussion, not those who don't like to be challenged.
I know which side my money is on! Same side it's been on since the end of 2019!!!
Spotify - don't go down the Facebook route - encourage open debate and discussion, please.
So you are saying allow all voices? Or is there a line in the proverbial sand that you draw?
I am not calling to delete content per say. My issue currently is with double standards and rules that are not used equally across the board by Spotify. Why cancel some podcasts and episodes for certain behavior and not J. R.'s work for the same behavior? This is my concern.
Americans should never be treated as we don’t know the difference between fact and opinion! We all know a podcast isn’t news! So how could this be an issue to even start discussing? It is opinions from the host and /or guests of the podcaster. Sad slippery slope to losing the freedoms we stand for. Maybe Neil Young should stick to music and stay out of opinionated podcasting! None of us will agree on all the opinions of others, if hateful or malice intent then not only would Spotify ban them for breaking there rules but so would the public in general. Not pressure from a far lefty that’s bent up about an opinion??? Silly man! Stop crying over free speech!
Spotify is a BUSINESS and as such! Should NOT be taking sides!
They could subject themselves to a backlash if they do!
I was a business manager for many years. The business did not promote political sides.
That's not a business's position. The employees of a business is a different story. What they do on their time that they are not working for that business is their business and not the business they work for! Unless of course, they are promoting the competition, or otherwise engaged in illegal activity.
Agreed.
I am sure there are PLENTY of podcasts that share ideas and opinions I would disagree with, but we have this thing called free speech.
Joe Rogan is not calling for violence or spreading hate; he is just an opinion guy, and a VERY popular one, at that.
If Spotify cancels or censors Joe Rogan, then they lose my Premium subscription.
just wanted to add my support for Joe Rogan don't let the big pharma agenda bully Spotify stand up to corporate interests and stand behind your members.
I would encourage everyone to read about the Robert Malone who Rogan is defending in this apology.
Robert Malone once falsely shared to his millions of followers that a 17 year old boy had a heart attack from the vaccine, when in fact the boy died in 2013.
Malone uses his credentials to appeal to authority for unassuming viewers but has many questions about his background work at companies, the length and thoroughness of his education, and questions around why he was pushed out of companies. Most importantly in my mind, he has been approaching his newly found anti-vax audience with 100% confidence, shifting skepticism to appeal to them, and acting as if his income depended on it.
I completely agree with Rogans comments about our shifting understanding of mainstream, accepted science topics, and that is why it is even more important that this context would have been critical for Rogan to include - a true “both sides” conversation about the reputation and weight given to Malone amongst his field, where instead Rogan here is doubling down to the detriment of his listeners.
Spotify should not support the censorship of speech in any form, including warnings or labels. I will cancel my subscription and move to another provider if it does.
second that - Neil Young hates America anyway Why would anyone listen to him? Spotify doesn't get to decide what is misinformation. Quit posturing or you'll sicken the rest of us where we don't want to pay for this.
Agree, Spotify should not buckle to the nonsense around Joe Rogan's podcast. The ability to express different viewpoints is fundamental to our society. I appreciate Joe's wide variety of guests and discussions. Don't like it, don't listen. Rogan is the main reason I got a Spotify account. If Spotify begins to transform into the platform of "pre-approved viewpoints only" I'm out.
Prove it! Give us your reference material on the 17 year old boy and Malone's assertion to that particular boy.
You didn't even mention the 17 year old boy's name. That's because you probably don't even know it. You have the Web at your disposal. The largest library in the history of the Human Race. When I was your age, I had to actually go to a physical building called a library to do research on subjects that interested me. And they didn't have computers there either. We had to go to the "Index Card" files and look up where the books were in a vast library. Then write that book's reference number that was on the book's spine... down on paper and then hunt that book down, and they were always in the numerical order indicated on the Index Card.
You're young and you're just regurgitating what some ignorant individual said somewhere on the Web.
As an older, wiser, experienced, mature male to a younger inexperienced immature male. Here is some advice to bolster your knowledge base. You do not benefit your credibility by posting unreferenceable, nonspecific statements.
You should amend your post with solid referenceable material/information.
Thank You. I'll be looking forward to your reference material.
The best way to ferret out "misinformation" is to hear both sides and have discussion, rather than having an entity like the Gov't or Big Tech decide what we should and should not be able to read/hear. Rogan isn't promoting Malone any more than he was promoting Bernie. I hope Spotify doesn't cave, but I fear they will be cowards. Sad day indeed.
I am with you all the way. Joe goes, I follow and take my subscription with me. Great work Spotify standing by free speech. They like to call everything they don't want people to know disinformation. When they say this we know they are spouting disinformation.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
