Please don’t allow censorship here

Although I’m a fan of many of the artists opposing Rogan’s podcast, they should not get to decide what the world can see, hear or read. I can do without them if needed. I find it ironic that many of them used their music to fight against the status quo when they were young and at the peak of popularity, and now they want to shut down any dissenting voices. It is important that there is freedom of speech in this world, and that doctors, scientists and other experts are allowed to express their concerns. Silencing our experts is a recipe for disaster.

In that scenario, whoever has the most money wins.

Good Riddance Neil and Joni !
Pathetic old dinosaurs still pandering to youth and begging for attention.

Go Joe Rogan, No Fear ...

If you give in at all to the censorship demands, then this platform will be no better than Twitter or YouTube. My premium memberships will be canceled for sure if they start headed down this slippery slope.

You are so right about that

It is surprising that some celebrities think they are medical professionals to claim misinformation on medical topics and make threats to Spotify to choose between them or Rogan.  This is a domineering, arrogant tactic that is only fueling the divide of vaccinated vs unvaccinated.  Why can’t we have empathy for one another instead of intimidating and dividing?

As a customer, I do NOT want censoring.  Thank you Spotify for not censoring content.  People have the choice to listen or not to listen to Rogan’s podcasts and Rogan’s podcast has freedom of speech.  We should all have freedom to choose.

I'm with you on this.

Neil Young & Joni Mitchell made some great music.

But they are in no way some authority on what is and isn't accurate or dangerous information on COVID or vaccines.

They are displaying a self-important attitude. But their opinions are not in any way important to me.

I do resent them trying to use their self-important impression of themselves to try to restrict my access to information or to censor discussion of some crucially important issues facing the world today.

It works both ways. If they cannot accommodate Joe Rogan, I will cancel my membership.

I am switching to a platform that supports the music artists and not socially irresponsible right wing conspiracy theories.
Spotify's decision to spend 100 Million on Joe Rogan demonstrates their greed and lack of sound judgement.

This is not censorship! This is the free market.
Goodbye Spotify!

Worse than that they are hypocrites now that they're old fat and rich.

What propaganda and fake news? The only one here spreading that is you and your lot. Rogan just has conversations. Don't like it? Go away.

Based on their current standards, Joni and Neil would have been banned in the early 70's when they were vocal opponents of the war in Vietnam.  Unlike those losers, I listened the the podcasts in question, and was impressed with the open discussion.  I did not need therapy afterwards.  Free speech must be defended.  KEEP IT UP JOE!

I don't even know Neil Young who? 😅

Never heard of. I listen ONLY underground techno music with hard bass. Sometimes less than 10 followers in artist.

Or less than 1 000 plays on songs. Spotify. The leaving Neil Young, does not affect my life one bit.

If he wants, he can leave, and I like many wouldn't miss him even one second.

The Joe Rogan I usually don't listen much, but he has a place on Spotify just like any other artist.

Including Neil Young who exist no more. I also assume Young has no doctor degree to say who is right or not.

Nor anyone of us probably. And those who have are programmed by the big guys.

I agree, and started using Spotify exactly for JRE. But I think there should be some considertaion on our part as well. After all if we (JRE fans) decide to put an ultinatum to Spotify as well, we are putting them between a rock and a hard place for the very reason we (at least I) like them. Which is their sipport for the podcast, free speech in general, and their lack of interference. They are a business after all and ultimatums of such sort might disinsentivize other to take that path. I think a line of active support for Spotify would be the most productive action for the long term.

I just upgraded my account to premium in support of Joe Rogan.

Good thoughts.

Remember, though, that we are not making any ultimatums. We can choose to support and pay for Spotify Premium based on whether we like their service.

An ultimatum would be if JRE fans started demanding that Spotify remove artists or podcasters from their site merely because we didn't like or agree with their opinions. That's not the fight we want. We just want Spotify to defend their platform as a place for balanced, free expression.

Regardless of someone else's interpretation of "misinformation" versus opinion.

Correct. Rogan listeners and free speech supporters aren't demanding anyone
be censored or removed and the fact is Joe is not spreading misinformation
or disinformation. He's not the CDC or news. He's having conversations.
Those people can be wrong and even lie but Joe isn't making claims about
what is fact. The news and cdc have and are supposed authorities. Yet both
have knowingly lied to us and people have died because they said get
vaccinated and you can go out and do anything you want.
Facts: the vaccines do not stop infection and spread. At least 1/4 of
people dying are fully vaccinated. The virus is airborne. Only n95 masks
are effective.

Joe Rogan podcast is the main reason I use Spotify.

Joe Rogan is the main reason I use Spotify. If they kick him off I'll leave. No disinformation was spread anyway. Just opinions that differ from the liberal, communist, fascist left.

More artist leaving Spotify.  If Spotify waits too long to deal with Rogan, they might not have a choice.

"the day the music died"

Funny how Young is all about free speech as long as it fits his narrative. His music sucks anyway. Good riddance.
