Although I’m a fan of many of the artists opposing Rogan’s podcast, they should not get to decide what the world can see, hear or read. I can do without them if needed. I find it ironic that many of them used their music to fight against the status quo when they were young and at the peak of popularity, and now they want to shut down any dissenting voices. It is important that there is freedom of speech in this world, and that doctors, scientists and other experts are allowed to express their concerns. Silencing our experts is a recipe for disaster.
In that scenario, whoever has the most money wins.
Why are some of you afraid of Joe Rogan? If you don't want to listen to him, don't. Censorship hurts EVERYONE. Stop being such a whiny ... and grow up. There are MANY podcasts that I don't agree with or like - so instead of demanding that they be censored, I simply don't listen to them.
Many people have a hard time thinking for themselves. They prefer being served what to believe and who to worship.
I'm happy Spotify seems to pay more attention to us sane people rather than these uneducated supporters of censorship and tyranny.
It may come as a shock to these "lifesavers", but you are allowed to listen to people talk, and disagree or agree with them as you see fit - pending your evaluation of what was said.
It's hard, but so is life.
I am a liberal who supports Joe Rogan and freedom of speech. The minute he is canceled on Spotify is the minute I will cancel Spotify.
I get it, Neil Young and Joni Blackface stans don't like what I have to say and love to censor people they can't ague against... but you really shouldn't let them report my comments because of it. My comments break no rules.. they don't even contain any *bleep* substitutions (because I can express myself without cursing).
Suddenly none of my replies post.. they get stuck in a "waiting for moderator to approve" limbo... even in my own threads trying to reply to people talking nonsense directly to me.
This is just a test to see if I can say anything that will get posted , or it it's just replies that have to be "moderated" for some reason now.
Yo Perlguy! Are you a spotify employee? Apparently you do not choose to abide by the rules..."whiny" "simply don't listen?" I am not for censorship and i can endure your misbegotten, simplistic, admonitions to grow up. Apparently there is no way to make a complaint to spotify. I believe Joni to be one of the legends of music. Simply my complaint is that if Spotify cannot find a way to accomodate her..then I will not renew my premium membership. This is the third time I have attempted to state this to Spotify. Twice my comments have not been received and I get an ERROR message. I am logged in. I honored the rules. You sir should consider your name calling as the projections of your own faults.
Seeing as I can't even reply to people in my own threads, I'm gonna have to do this...
This is a reply to jeff4NeilYoung in my "Remember when Joni Mitchell did blackface?" thread
--------------
Quite interesting that "jeff4NeilYoung" has been a member since 2022-01-27. I'm sure he's totally unbiased and doesn't have an agenda at all!
"Your argument is right out of the MAGA cult's handbook."
Wow... 8 words in and you're already bringing up Trump. That's... weird. What does he have to do with this?
"Don't address the criticism that Joe Rogan was supportively [sic], and not intellectually challenging, medical misinformation"
I wasn't talking about Joe Rogan. I was talking about Joni Mitchell...this thread is about Joni Mitchell doing blackface - why don't you address that? Funny how you seem to be doing exactly what you're accusing me of doing... something, something cult handbook 😉
"Instead, turn your spotlight to other topics, like black face, Dr. Seuss, or green M&Ms (straight from Faux News)"
Again, this thread is about Joni Mitchel doing blackface. So far you have brought up MAGA, Dr Suess, Green M&Ms, and Faux News. YOU brought these topics into the conversation... but you haven't addressed the actual topic of this thread once.
"Then make a ridiculous argument that since Einstein was intellectually challenged by his peers then Joe Rogan has the right to support a right wing quack making unsubstantiated medical clams that endanger public health."
No one made that argument. Why do you feel the need to make stuff up... or is this how you admit that you can't read? That said, why would anyone listen to someone who A) makes stuff up, or B) can't read, but is telling you to "read this"?
We shouldn't, but... as I implied at the very beginning of this comment... it's pretty obvious you're not to be taken seriously to begin with - you're only here to be a tool of corporate media.
BTW: I like how your open letter to Spotify links to Instagram for supporting evidence.. or "fact-checks" crying over terms like “mass formation psychosis”. Sounds like someone is mad they got caught up in a modern day dancing plague.
Do you know what things like the dancing plague or the Tanganyika laughter epidemic are known as? That's right: Mass psychogenic illness — if you think real hard, perhaps you can think of another way of phrasing it.
I find it funny that the person you decided to base your screen name on literally cited the fake list of doctors as being the impetus for wanting to remove his music... and you haven't addressed that at all. On the other hand, the reasons you give for supporting him are based on articles trying to discredit an actual doctor who is literally vaccinated, but disagrees with things like mandates and giving experimental vaccines to children who don't really need them.
What do have to say about the fact that Sweden decided against recommending COVID vaccines for kids aged 5-11 ? Is Sweden part of the MAGA cult, too? Are they spreading misinformation?
Assuming you aren't just a sock-puppet account here to support big pharma, I suggest you start being a little more pro-active in the information you consume because your news diet is making your ego bloated while still leaving you thoroughly uninformed.
Read the Subject line.
Joe Rogan ONLY has people on that have high qualifications that quote government numbers and peer-reviewed scientific research and/or are directly involved in treating covid patients.
I bet I could send my $15 directly to music artists and that would be better for them. I'm here because it SEEMED like you were here to support free speech and free information.
I've said it before, if Joe Rogan's episodes are blocked or messed with, I don't need you, Spotify.
I 2nd this! if you think my brain is inferior to there's and we can't filter information for ourselves! sensor-ship goes wild! Who'd have thought! there is definitely spreading disinformation and it's definitely not Joe Rogan
Hello... just a comment and concern. I enjoy Spotify and the diversity of content. I don't expect Spotify to be the arbiter of truth. I'll take care of that myself. The guests that Joe Rogen has on his podcast offer reasoned views, insights and opinions that each listener is free to evaluate. As with all of the content on the Spotify platform, some subscribers love, some will hate and some are indifferent. As a platform provider, your expertise is not medicine, science and pandemics. There is a diversity of thought and contradictory data that is best addressed by open discussion and reasoned argument. As a subscriber, I'm appreciative of a platform that supports open and free dialog. I will evaluate the truthfulness of the content myself. Sincerely, Jp
I have to say that I appreciate your thoughtfulness about the idea of the open forum but what is your response to the unbalanced response of taking down some content by way of saying "see we are all for stopping COVID misinformation" while still allowing someone to stay on for things that they have flagged other people for?
Cancel, and good riddance. I came here for music, not propaganda and fake news. you can get your conspiracy podcasts on many other sources.
2nd try test
I may not notice if you start deleting particular content, but if I do notice and it happens to be Joe R.(abbreviated to see if the full spelling is prohibiting me from posting this) or any other reasonable person bringing rational and respectful discussion or viewpoints, then I will withdraw my paid subscription on Spotify. I will not be calling for Spotify to delete voices with which I disagree. Let’s not bring about more Orwellian cancel culture to ourselves.
Please don’t fall for the BS folks are putting on your company. Wait 2 weeks and they will loose interest. That all they do! Suck it up and say we support all speech. For better or for worse …….
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
