Hey everyone, hope you’re having an awesome day. The summer has us in its embrace (at least where we are) and the days are filled with sunshine and a sense of lightness and fun. ☀️🌴
We hope all of you get the chance to hear the seagulls sing and feel the touch of the waves on your skin. 🌊 Ice cream is also not a bad idea.😋 🍦As always we have a faithful companion in our summer adventures - the sweet music, pervading the air with joyful melody. 🎶
In the spirit of this ongoing sunshine, we would like to ask you one question:
Which style/genre of music do you think best fits the summer days and nights?
We will start this melodic thread with a timeless reggae/rock classic from Long Beach, California that we think is the perfect soundtrack for the season of the sun. Just one note from Sublime’s eponymous album brings you the vibes of the sea and the caress of the silky sand.

And now - give us your warmest melodies and have a great weekend!
Hot Summer Nights, one of my favorite time for listening music. Sunset is there. Night is falling. You are on a beach, in a garden, on a balcony, anywhere you want. A loved person near you. A drink in hand. Eyes closed. A warm summer breeze caresses your arms. Stereo is on. Your are lost in your mind. Warm sexy Music is flowing...
This summer has so far felt most appropriate for rowdy punked up state of mind. A lot of Only Child Tyrant for me. Thankfully the alias has also just released two new singles (one yesterday!) and they are perfection.
This is the newest one:

Other than that I've only had enough energy (it's been an emotionally demanding few weeks) for my absolute favourites. Two specific songs from Ivy Lab, certain Nomark Club exclusives, Shell of Light by Burial, the weaving sweet low end in a handful of Alix Perez songs, the intense Knot by DFNKT and more, all of which make me feel oh so good.
Sooo.. uhh.. Chilled future bass / tropical house would be perfect for summer, but for me it's mostly Only Child Tyrant wearing less than optimal amount of clothing, careless as can be and full of rowdy energy.
Hey hey,
Great musical selections so far! Feeling the vibes here 🙂
I am an absolute fanboy of Sublime, and I must admit that they've opened up the 'Reggae door' for me back in the days 🙂 So naturally I would recommend chilling to some sweet reggae music in the summer's sun! Here is a great Grammy-nominated album (didn't win, but should have) from a genial contemporary Jamaican artist called 'Chronixx' - a must hear 🙂

Enjoy and stay in the shade!
Great question, @Nikola!
If the weather was pleasantly warm during the summer (which it currently is in my part of the world), I’d say that a couple of often-overlapping genres of music that I’d enjoy listening to are psychedelic- and stoner rock.
These are probably my favorite genres of music during any time of year, and ones that I think often have a “warm” quality that could perfectly match the weather during the summer months; I’m not exactly sure why I feel this way, but it could have to do with the common use of electric guitar effects within these genres, which can produce a wide range of tones that might sound warm (for instance, I’d say that the fuzzy distorted tones that are widely used in stoner rock can contribute to such a quality).
One example I'll share of a psychedelic/stoner rock album that feels “summerlike” to me is the self-titled debut album from Naxatras, who describe their sound in their About section on Spotify as "a warm psychedelia”:

Cheers!
It's not really one genre, but for the qualifier of "style", I submit that a certain feel (whether it's chill or upbeat) is what best fits summer. Here are some examples.
Heya! Awesome question indeed - for me the sound of summer is usually the playlist I have created in preparation for an upcoming festival 😄 This year I'd say it's this one:

Also @Vasil I think you also enjoy the band that @AdamDam has mentioned here, right?
i think it depends on your mood
Here's a super old one for me, but every time I hear it, it reminds me of my time on the lake growing up as a kid. Laid back, the guitar sounds like water, and the drums feel like the suns rays blasting down on me.

Also, here's a summery picture of my friend with a mullet waving at you all.
This is the singer Marina Lima, she was one of the biggest references of Brazilian music. This song Uma noite e 1\2 is still the summer anthem here in Brazil.

Late for the show but ready to go!
@Elena & @AdamDam
Naxatras are THE BOMB, you start listening and you forget that time even moves...
I even got a shirt of theirs 😄
