Discover weekly facebook profile picture issue

I need help! That new feature called Discover Weekly used my most recent facebook profile picture to create the custom album cover. However just days after first using this new feature I changed my profile picture on facebook but my Discover Weekly cover stays just the same with the old photo on the cover even after weeks when the songs in the playlist have already changed. This old profile picture shows me and a friend which I just recently got into a fight with - which is why I changed my facebook profile picture in the first place and would like to have this Discover Weekly-cover picture changed as well. I tried to reinstall spotify, log out of my account but nothing helped updating that album cover. This issue occurs no matter what deviceiI use to log in to spotify: phone, ipad, computer. Can anyone help please ?

And yeah, it did not work for me too. This is pretty shitty customer service.

I've sent them another email by telling them AGAIN, but I am starting to think that it's a lost cause and that they just don't care. 

 

That is correct, sorry. Should have mentioned that. Yes, only on the desktop version.

I apreciate your response Katerina, but I think most of us on here have tried just about every thing imaginable to get this issue resolved. As a customer I should not have to jump through hoops and try all these steps to have a simple picture removed or replaced? Now we need to go vote to have this basic feature added? I think people should start voting with there wallets? Sorry I'm usually a pretty relaxed person but this is seriously getting ridiculous. I enjoy using spotify but I'm seriously considering switching to another streaming platform. Maybe to spotify this is not a big deal but I honestly do not enjoy constantly seeing a picture of my ex everytime I go into spotify.

Thank you Katerina but the link you sent contains a lot of conversation in another language and I just speak English an French. 


I talked to 4 different people at your customer service. Each one of them told me different things, log on another computer, deactivate the facebook connexion, oh no actually reactivate it, and follow the list also, oh no don't follow it. None of that worked.

 

The last solution I was given was to deactivate the facebook connexion with Spotify from Facebook. Which I don't understand still because there is no update that it's done between the 2 apps. I changed my facebook profile picture a year ago and the discover weekly is still the one from 2 years ago. So if I deactivate the connexion the update won't magically happen now. We'll see in 2 days. 

 

And even if this solution works, and I reset back to the default picture. If I want to synchronize my Facebook again, I will have the same problem all over again? 

 

 I don't understand why is there not a simple procedure for this, just a button that we can activate or not in order to create or not personalized playlist pictures if we use Facebook, or a refresh button...  

 

I am just trying to understand the logic for this functionality because it looks like the system takes a picture at the time you first connect with Facebook and then never update or change. 

 

I would be sorry for venting but I did not think that I would have to speak to 4 different people for a basic problem like this. 

Also, I just went to the Live Ideas part of the community. There is a thread that had 15 000 votes but that your team won't implement and another with lesser votes that had been implemented so I don't see how we can have a voice if, in the end, you chose what you want to add or not. 

Just found this thread after talking to support. Their answer was to make a new account! Ridiculous. 

That moderator reply is useless because this is obviously a really annoying problem that affects a handful of usrs so it will never get loads of votes. Bad weighing system.

 

This is all absolute nonsense, from the original problem to this forum, to official support, to every answer.

I agree that this is nonsense. I contacted the support.  They made me try several useless things like deleting the app, updating my profil picture, unsynchronizing my Facebook account, and told me each time to wait 48h for the photo to update. Nothing worked obviously. And after 20 days and 25 emails and a lot of wasted time, they deleted my discover weekly profile picture on their side.

 

Now I have the default one. They told me to try to resynchronize my Facebook after that but I told them I won’t as it is really too much of a struggle to update this photo. 

 

So I guess the only solution is to write to the support to Ask them to remove your discover weekly profile picture again and again... and loose your time, because they do not have another viable solution for now. 

 

Maybe that if everybody write them about that and make them loose their time, they will do something to resolve this issue.... I certainly hope so because clearly what they did is not a solution.

Who did you contact? I keep being told to use twitter for tech support? Was not very helpful.

I filled in a form on their website I think? It’s been a month so I can’t remember.

I tried to use the chat support but they were useless. 

 

But the email address is support@spotify.com. Maybe you can try that.

So this was my response from tech support after almost 20 minutes....

 

"After checking it with a specialist, looks like there's no way we can remove it.

To reszolve it, we'll have to create a new account."

Ugh it's stupid and wrong as they did it for me. Probably manually or I don't know. 

It seems I got lucky then? I contacted the French support on my side, guess they are more consumer oriented? 

You could always try and contact them again but I get that it's a pain in the **bleep** to do that...


Hopefully they will implement an option in the near future?  

 

Maybe if all the people that have problem voted on this idea that would help them understand that they need to implement it?
