I just got Spotify Premium to download some audio files to go with a slide-show of family pictures I'm planning for Christmas. But it isn't downloading anything when I click Download. I saw someone ask a similar question and they got this answer, 'You can only listen to downloaded songs from inside the app.' Does that mean I can't access audio files to use in the slideshow???

Unfortunately, you're correct. Spotify downloads audio in the Ogg Vorbis format, and is protected through Digital Rights Management. Long story short: no, you cannot access offline music from anywhere but through the Spotify app. The reason for this has to do with the license that Spotify maintains with the artists/record labels. In an effort to keep the cost to the user down, they have eliminated the ability to distribute music from their platform.
