Using Spotify as a streaming service

Casual Listener

We are newbies to Spotify and do not have a paid subscription. When we search for music for a specific artist/album Spotify reverts to shuffle mode instead of playing the specific chosen music. Is this because we do not have a paid subscription, and the way to get specified music played is to "pony up the bucks" for a subscription?

thx

If you are using Spotify Free on a mobile phone, then yes there is no way to turn off the Shuffle Mode without paying for Premium.

With Spotify free, you can listening on demand on tablets and desktop Spotify though.

On any computer you should get the choice of shuffle or no shuffle. Do you have the version of Spotify downloaded from spotify.com/download? If so, you should see the shuffle/repeat icons in the bottom right corner. De-selecting them so they're not green should turn off each option.

Spotify is streaming service even on Free. In mobile you just can't select exactly what you play.
