What benefit does the user gain from following an artist on the platform?

In addition to the artist's follower count increasing, this feature does not currently bring any benefit to the user. What do you think about this?

Good question!

I've had Spotify emails dropping in my inbox letting me know of an artist I follow releasing a new album. Mobile users may get similar notifications from their Spotify app.

They come in relatively seldom though, or I might be following rather quiet artists. 🙂
