When I add a new song into iTunes, I can no longer play it off of Spotify Top hits . . .

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

My guess is Spotify is picking up those tracks as local files, but is having some issue with playing them.

Try installing Apple Quicktime and then restarting Spotify, many community members report it installs the missing codecs for Spotify to play local files.
