My Question or Issue
- We're using Vuplex 3D WebView asset in our Unity project. It uses the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). It allows us to put a virtual/embedded browser within our Unity application.
- Out-of-the-box, 3D WebView doesn't play any sound on open.spotify.com. To resolve this, as per the documentation, I installed the H.264 codec as well as Widevine DRM.
- Now, some sound plays. It seems that some long-form podcasts (e.g. JRE, Our Fake History) work just fine. However, others stop outputting sound after exactly 10 seconds (e.g. Harley Quinn and The Joker: Sound Mind).
- Music and playlists all seem to be problematic. Tracks get skipped in a fraction of a second. Once it "settles" on a track (usually after skipping 4-5 tracks), it plays sound for 10 seconds, but then the sound cuts out.
- I contacted the developer of the 3D WebView. He's aware of the problem and has no immediate fix. He suspects that Spotify may be blocking the web player from working within CEF as an anti-piracy measure.
- I tried settings different user agents for the embedded browser without success.
- Also important to note that there are no errors being displayed in Unity nor the embedded browser.
I figured I would ask about the issue here while waiting to hear back from the developer.
