30d trial paypal payment redirects to payment options

My Question or Issue

 I tried to start the 30 day trial, but after the paypal payment i get redirected to the same page. (https://www.spotify.com/de/purchase/panel/?country=DE#__main-billing-paypal)

My paypal doesnt show any charges.

Over the last month i have tried it several times with the same result.

Unfortunately other payment methods aren't an option for me.

Hi,

I was facing with the same problem, but from another aspect (https://community.spotify.com/t5/Subscriptions/Two-premium-subscriptions-with-same-paypal/td-p/45956...), but finally I found a solution:

I bought a gift card for myself (https://www.spotify.com/hu/purchase/ecards/; replace the "hu" with your country code, probably with "de"), I could pay for it using paypal,

Then I entered the redeem code on my profile page. At this point I got a warning, that if I continue, then I will not be able to use the free trial. So I clicked continue anyway.

After the code was verified I could set up the monthly charge of the premium using my paypal account.

Hey @Strandinator,

 

Have you tried to use an incognito tab, clear the cookies of your browser and use another browser or device?

When this doesn't work, you should try to use another internet connection (e.g. cellular data instead of WiFi).

thanks for your answer.

I tried ms edge, the spotify mobile app (probably uses my chrome mobile browser) and incognito in chrome. All three with the same result.

I wasn't able to try cellular, bc I already used up my data volume for the month 😉

Thanks for getting back to us.

 

If you'd like to use PayPal to pay for Premium, make sure you have a payment card connected to your PayPal account.

 

Keep in mind that you won't be able to make use of the offer if you've had Premium in the past.

Thanks for your answer.

I used the PayPal account for many payments in the past, including subscriptions (even spotify). No problems there.

 

Regarding the use of premium in the past:

I wanted to get rid of my old account which I created with facebook login. On that one I have used the free trial and had a few months of premium. Those were also payed with my current PayPal account. Could that be the source of the problem?

(btw I wasn't able to find a subscription option without free trial for this account)

Yes, that is indeed the problem - even though it was on a different account, once you have signed up for a free trial using one payment method, you cannot use that same payment method again to sign up for another trial.

Fair enaugh. I can get behind why I can't start a new trial with the same PayPayl account.

But is there a option to start a subscription without free trial? As I said I wasn't able to find any.

I don't know how to create my own post. I just activated a 30-day free trial last October 22, 2018. And now, I was charged for 149 php 3 days after. Can someone please answer me? I need a refund.

You should be able to upgrade to Premium from your account overview page, otherwise you can go to this page.

 

If you're still not able to sign up for Premium, let us know what the issue is and if you're getting any error messages, and we'll help you out 🙂

Nope, same as before. Can't find an option for premium without 30d trial. Still get redirected to the previous page (https://www.spotify.com/de/purchase/panel/?country=DE#__main-billing-paypal) and still don't get an error.
