Cancelling subscription - switches to Free, or stays Premium?

I'm currently on a Spotify Family account with my old roommates, and now I'd like to switch to a family account with my family. I am not the Family account holder, I'm one of the users linked to the Family account. To my understanding, I have to cancel my current subscription, wait until my billing period is over, then create the new Family account. I was just wondering, if I cancel my subscription right now (before the billing period is over), will my account revert back to a Free account, or will it stay Premium for Family until the billing period is over?

Thats a great question!

 

In this case you could ask the Family owner of the current plan your on to eject you from the subscription. They can find out how by going here:

https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/subscription_information/premium-for-family/

 

Then you can go ahead and get yourself added to the new account.
