Change from Family to Duo

Change from Family to Duo

Hi,

I do have a Spotify Family account (if I’m correct because at the moment we started with Spotify there was no Duo possible then) but we are only with two of us. Therefore I want to change the account from Family to Duo. Only if I log in on a webbrowser I can only change from Family to Student or Free, but not Duo.

Do I need to cancel my Family account first and then start with Duo? Does it mean that all my playlists and all the playlists of my girlfriend are gone?

Hey @mers666,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

That's right, you'll need to cancel your subscription and wait until it has ended. Once it has ended, you can subscribe to Premium Duo at https://spotify.com/duo.

You keep your playlists and saved music when your account is free. You can also still log in and play with ads.

Hope this helps!

But does also my girlfriend keep her playlists? I am the one on who’s name the account is (and first user) and she is a user on this account.

Hey @mers666,

Thanks for getting back.

The same applies to her when her account is free again. All members of a Premium Duo/Family plan have their own, standalone Spotify account. 🙂

Any ideas when Spotify is going to offer the option to just change Family to Duo?

Seems rather odd that this not an option at all, as changes to Student premium is offered as option.

Hey @sunajjanus ,

I have no info about this, sorry! 🙂

I just checked if the option to change the subscription is more easy now, and it looks like it is more easy. If I am correct, I don’t need to cancel a Family account and start a Duo account anymore. But I just can change from Family to Duo without any issue now. Am I correct?
