My Question or Issue

 

Yesterday I saw a big red banner in the app that Spotify had been unable to charge my card for the annual renewal. 

 

So I clicked through in the Spotify app, and I ended up on three options:

- Family plan: $14.99 a month

- Family plan: $119.99 a year

- Student plan

 

I don't know if I missed a screen or something, or if this was an upsell within the app. Anyways, I do want family plan, and it looked like a discount when paid annually, so I selected the $119.99, paid annualy, option. But then after I paid, I saw that I'd signed up for a regular Premium plan. 

 

On a related note, when I google "Spotify Premium" I find separate, unconnected landing pages for Premium and Family Plan via Adwords, with no mention of the costs/benefits of an annual subscription.  Not very transparent.

 

1.  I'm confused.  Did I sign up for Family Plan or not?

2. If I only renewed Premium, why is it $119 CAD per year? I don't prepay for a year without getting a discount.

 

I'd prefer a discount on an annual Family plan - but if no such thing exists, I'd like a refund of my $119.99 and I will pay $9.99 monthly.

  1. Premium for Family is only available as a monthly subscription, so you've most likely subscribed to Premium.
  2. That's the price for 12 months of Premium. Spotify had a discounted yearly subscription offer last year, but this isn't a permanent thing.
