E card not working

I purchased an e card for a friend and after we redeemed it he still doesn't have premium. I have the receipt with the activation code but we just can't get it to start

Just to check, is your friend living in the same country as you?

 

We'd also recommend that he checks this support page to check what's wrong.

He does live in the same country. Thanks for responding. I am pretty sure that the problem exists with the login. Do you think it would help for him to delete the Spotify app. Could he then download the app and put in the same code? I don't know what to do? We work together and spent 45 minutes working on it, but couldn't get it to work.
