E-vouchers are only sold as £10, £30 or £60, but a subscription is £11.99

E-vouchers are only sold as £10, £30 or £60, but a subscription is £11.99

For example, if my e-voucher has £30, but a monthly subscription is £11.99, will Spotify automatically split the payment for the 3rd month as £5.97 from my bank account and £6.02 from the remainder of the voucher credit?

Hey @Iveta,

Thanks for reaching out.

As long as the Gift Card is valid, it will provide the full Premium time as specified on the card, without any proration. You can rest assured that you'll get the exact amount of Premium time stated.

Hope that clears things up! 🙂

Sorry, that doesn’t answer my question. The evoucher is through my employer’s benefit scheme and does not specify “time”, it only specifies value. As I explained, there are only 3 options - £10, £30 or £60 - neither of which cover the cost of a subscription fully. So I need to know if Spotify will take the missing £1.99 from my bank account to supplement the £10 voucher, or will it refuse to accept the voucher and I will have wasted my £10 (minus my employer’s discount, but that’s beside the point). Thanks

Hey @Iveta,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot.

It looks like the Gift Card you can purchase includes a discount, which could explain the price difference you’re seeing.

Since you’re redeeming the Gift Card directly on your account, there’s no need to add any payment details—Spotify won’t charge anything beyond what the Gift Card covers.

The Gift Card should give you a full month of service, so you’re all set without any extra costs!

Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

Thanks for trying to answer. Can you please confirm I’ve understood you correctly?

The cheapest voucher’s total value (£10) doesn’t cover a full month of subscription (£11.99). Are you saying that Spotify will accept the £10 and provide service for as long as these £10 cover, instead of supplementing it with £1.99 from my bank card? So, 30 days - 5% = 24 days.

The total value of the cheapest voucher is £10. I’m getting 4% discount and paying £9.60.

I’m currently paying my subscription automatically on my added card, I suppose via Direct Debit, so Spotify already has my card details.

P.S.

I know, £0.40 savings doesn’t sound a lot, but I intend to use the vouchers for as long as possible saving 4% off my yearly cost of £143.88.

Thanks

Hey @Iveta,

Thanks for getting back.

The 10, 30, and 60 GBP Gift Cards cover a full 1, 3, and 6 months of Premium Individual each, regardless of any discounts or differences compared to using a recurring payment method—so your Premium time won’t be shortened.

In fact, you’ll be saving even more with this option.

The Gift Card itself is 1.99 GBP cheaper than the standard Premium Individual price, and with your 4% employee discount, you’ll end up with a total of 2.39 GBP in savings each month. 🙂
