Gift Card mistake? Is there a way out of this?

My Question or Issue

HELP!

I bought gift cards with the intention of gifting a year of Spotify to a FAMILY.  I very clearly saw the $99 gift cards for a Year of Premium for an individual (which I avoided).  I also saw DOLLAR VALUE gift cards for Spotify ($10, $30 and $60).  These appeared to be generic Dollar Value gift cards, so I bought $200 worth (3x60, 2x10).

Now that I'm home, I see indications in the wording that these are also (for some unknown reason), not generic Spotify dollars, but possibly restricted to Individual Premium accounts????  WHY???

Am I completely pooched here????  Did I really just throw away $200????

I have seen some mention of being able to fund a new individual Premium account with the funds ($200), and THEN converting to a Family Plan, with the funds then utilized against the Family plan cost (ie. instead of 20 months x $10... getting ~12 months x $16).  However, I want to be certain that this is the case.  Once the gift cards are cashed out on an account, they are stuck there.  I can't give this as a gift if it won't work to pay for a Family plan (and I basically am out $200... I doubt I can sell these cards for anything close to face value)

This is truly overly complicated and stress inducing!  Why would dollar value gift cards not be treated as DOLLAR VALUE against any plan cost?????

According to the Spotify FAQ for gift card and the gift card ToS, it states that you can only redeem these gift cards for Individual Premium and not for anything else. You are unable to use gift cards for Duo Premium, Family Premium, or Student Premium. So I'm sorry to say this, but there is no real way to redeem them and then get other Spotify plans (other than Individual) with gift cards.

Although you might not get a good response from support, it might possibly be worth a shot (however it isn't likely due to part 5 of the ToS/you can't refund these cards).
