A friend in the US gifted me a subscription. I live in the UK and it's saying I can't use it here. Anyway I can get around this? Would here to miss out on a very kind gift.

Unfortunately not, because Spotify gift cards can only be redeemed on Spotify accounts registered in the same country where they were purchased.
