How do I apply gift cards to a Premium Individual Account?

I have a Premium Individual account. When I try to redeem my gift cards it says that the premium code is not available for use on this type of account subscription. Everything indicates this is the type of account gift/promo cards can be used on. I've tried using a different browser to redeem the codes and that did not work.

First up, make sure you’ve entered the correct characters. E.g. a zero looks like a capital ‘O’, or a capital ‘I’ looks like a one. Here you'll find more helpful info to redeem your card. If that doesn't help, we'd recommend going to the store where you bought it so they can make sure it was successfully activated.
