I can't buy spotify premium even after being gifted a code

I live in Morocco and my international card is empty and I need to wait before refilling it so I asked my aunt who lives in the US to lend me her card to buy premium but it didn't work even after changing my country then she ordered a spotify gift card and sent me the code and it still didn't work so what am I doing wrong does the card still have to be activated by a cashier even though its been ordered online?

yes though I did manage to change my country on the account

Okay, if the country on your account is set to the US, then you'll be able to redeem your Gift Card here.

Keep in mind that you can only redeem gift cards that are purchased in the same country as the person you're sending it to.
