I can't update my Country

My Question or Issue

So I moved from Canada to India 8 months ago, I want to change my Spotify country to India but I just can't do it. It's not allowing me to switch the country to India from the edit profile option on the website (the drop-down list is greyed out). I even unsubscribed from my premium plan, went to the page which show all the plans available in India (https://www.spotify.com/in/premium/) but when I clicked on one it said it's not available for me (which makes sense since my country is still Canada on the profile). I don't know how to convince Spotify that I am in India, I want to be able to get an Indian plan especially because it is a lot cheaper.

If you permanently move to another country, you need to update your payment method to one that's issued in your new country by following these steps:

 

  1. Log in to your account page
  2. Under Your plan, click UPDATE next to your payment method. 
  3. Enter a new payment method that was issued in your new country. 

The changes will take effect from your next billing date. 

 

To make sure you avoid any issues that might be caused by the browser's cache, we recommend performing these steps in a private/incognito window.

I contacted customer service directly. I cancelled my plan on the website but they said it's not cancelled in their system, so they did it and I could change my country. Doesn't make much sense but whatever

I didn't find an update payment option before, and now (after cancelling my
premium plan to try to switch) it's definitely not showing any update
payment options. I really did search for a place to update payments but I
can't find one. Under My Plan I still see the Premium plan but it is
cancelled. I can only see Renew Premium right now. I still can't update the
country on my laptop or mobile device even using incognito mode. It
literally shows India at the bottom of the site (as it automatically
redirects to the India page), but still doesn't allow me switch the country
in my profile. I looked at all available answers earlier too which you are
repeating right now, but they haven't helped. It's been 8 months, is there
some customer service line? This is very frustrating. 😟
