I'll be moving to China in August for 10 mo. Will I be able to use Spotify Premium still offline?

Solved!

I'll be moving to China in August for 10 mo. Will I be able to use Spotify Premium still offline?

Hi guys!

Like my question said, I'll be moving to China to teach English in the Hunan Provence for 10 months. I've read that some users have issues using Spotify Premium in China and I'm prepared for that. However, if I keep Spotify in offline mode will I still have access to all my downloaded music? It's so much and I don't really feel like buying every single album I listen to.

Thanks!

Hey @lwilliamson

Spotify is not currently available in China, however a premium subscription lets you travel and use Spotify abroad in any country while you are traveling. The only requirement is that you have a payment method from your home country on your account and actively paying for the subscription monthly. Some countries or networks block certain apps so it is not guaranteed that Spotify will work on the internet in all places.

Your trip to China is considered traveling I would say, but if you find yourself living in China permanently, then you would need to cancel premium and stop using your Spotify account until Spotify officially launches service in China.

The offline mode requires that you connect to the internet once every 30 days so that it can confirm that you are still paying for an active subscription. If you don't connect to the internet, or you do connect to the internet and it is determined you no longer have a premium subscription, the song files saved for offline mode in the app will delete themselves and no longer be playable. The songs will still be in your library but you won't be able to play them offline until you subscribe and download them again.

So yes, you can go into the Spotify app settings and turn on "offline mode" to use the app in offline mode as long as you turn off the mode and connect to the internet once every 30 days.
